In the 2000s coupé/convertibles were really a thing. So clever and contemporary you'd wonder why no one thought of them before.
Well, they did. Coachbuilder Partout built a few examples of the Peugeot 402 Éclipse décapotable in the 1930s. Judging by the prices at Rétromobile this year, they're now worth something approaching €200,000.

I always loved this design. I wonder if they give you a little box to use as a trunk so nothing gets trapped by the top a la VW EOS

That would be practicality though. I doubt if practicality was uppermost in your mind if you were buying a handmade car..
